Several businesses are giving up their traditional phone system for a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system, because they are fairly inexpensive to install and operate. In fact, other than updating your office's network cabling if needed, you don't need to worry about a complicated installation process at all. VoIP phone systems operate using your company's Internet connection. Because of this, VoIP systems are cheaper than landline systems, but if they aren't properly protected, they are also vulnerable to hackers.
I recently saw a story on the local news about how young adults today are skipping landlines when they move out on their own. I love cell phones like everyone else, but I think a landline is also important to have. Service usually only cost a few dollars each month, and they are very useful for emergencies. Since I have had my cell phone, I have misplaced it many times and I even dropped it in the bathtub once and had to wait several days for a new one. I don't think I could have gotten through those times without my landline close by to help me locate my cell phone and order a new replacement. I created this blog to remind young people today that home landlines are very important to have.
