Own A Home-Based Business? Four Reasons You Need To Have A Dedicated Phone System Installed

Carl Collins

If you run a home-based business, and you still use your personal cell phone for business purposes, it's time to make some changes. Your cell phone may be the perfect way to stay in contact with friends and family; however, that type of communication falls short for your business needs. To make your home-based business more competitive, and to alleviate some of the problems associated with cell phone use, here are four reasons why you need to have a dedicated phone system installed for your home-based business.

Provide a Professional Appearance

If you're using your personal cell phone for personal and business purposes, you may not provide the most professional appearance. One problem is that you never know who's calling, which can affect the way you answer your phone, as well as the voicemail message you leave. However, when you have a dedicated phone system for your home-based business, you'll always answer your phone in a professional manner. You'll also be able to create a professional call back message for your voice mail.

Ensure Proper Call Forwarding Options

If you're going to be out of the office, you may worry about missing important business calls. Failing to return a personal call for a few hours — or days — might not be problematic. However, where your business calls are concerned, a few hours or days can be extremely problematic. One of the benefits of having a dedicated phone line for your home-based business is that you can program it to automatically reroute business calls to your personal cell phone. When that happens, your phone will alert you to the business call so that you can answer accordingly. Should you fail to answer, your customers will be directed to your professional voicemail system.

Encourage Out-of-Country Communication

If you want to expand your home-based business beyond the borders of the United States, you need to provide a way for potential clients to contact you. Unfortunately, international calls can be quite expensive. With a dedicated phone system for your home-based business, you can provide a toll-free number for clients to use. That way, they won't have to pay costly fees to contact you.

Avoid Cell Phone Reception Problems

Finally, if you run a home-based business, you can't afford to deal with cell phone–related reception problems. Unfortunately, cell phones are notorious for dropped calls and interference; two issues that can cause serious problems for your small business. One of the benefits of having a dedicated phone system for your business is that you'll always have clear reception for all your calls.

About Me
No One Should Go Without a Landline Phone

I recently saw a story on the local news about how young adults today are skipping landlines when they move out on their own. I love cell phones like everyone else, but I think a landline is also important to have. Service usually only cost a few dollars each month, and they are very useful for emergencies. Since I have had my cell phone, I have misplaced it many times and I even dropped it in the bathtub once and had to wait several days for a new one. I don't think I could have gotten through those times without my landline close by to help me locate my cell phone and order a new replacement. I created this blog to remind young people today that home landlines are very important to have.
